Festival rainy days
Philharmonie Luxembourg (LU)
For the past twenty years, rainy days has been the Philharmonie Luxembourg’s annual celebration of new music. The 2025 edition—supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation—explores the theme of “bodies”—from our own human bodies to all sounding bodies (Klangkörper).
Spanning five days, the festival presents a variety of concerts, happenings, workshops, and public discussions. Events range from micro-concerts to installations, from multimedia explorations to pure sound experiences. Each event focuses on celebrating the diversity of the human body while raising awareness of its abilities and often-invisible disabilities.
This year’s program features approximately 40 events, including 22 new works by both local and international composers. The lineup includes the Quattuor Bozzini, the Explore ensemble, ensemble recherche, collective lovemusic, Ensemble multilatéral, Percussions de Strasbourg, Musici Ireland, the Fabrik Quartet, Quartetto Mauricio, and pony says. The festival also spotlights the work of Michael Parsons, including a performance of his legendary Scratch Orchestra piece. Another highlight will be a staging of Salvatore Sciarrino’s La bocca, I piedi, Il suono, performed by an ensemble of 100 saxophonists.
At rainy days, listeners are encouraged to have open ears and open minds, ready to question and reconsider their own perceptions of the body.
