Io, frammento dal Prometeo

Fondazione Archivio Luigi Nono Onlus, Venedig (IT)

Continuing last year’s staging of Prometeo. Tragedia dell’ascolto, Festival Luigi Nono 2025 will present Io, frammento da Prometeo in November. Made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the performance will be free of charge, and rehearsals will be open to students from local conservatories.

Now in its 44th year, the festival is committed to the development of contemporary music and regularly features artists who worked closely with Luigi Nono. It takes place in Venice, where the Luigi Nono Archive is based.

This year’s production includes contributions from historical collaborators of Nono such as sound director Alvise Vidolin and flutist Roberto Fabbriciani, alongisde musicians specializing in contemporary music. Io, frammento reflects Nono’s continued investigation into the relationships between sound, space, and time. In the words of conductor Marco Mazzolini, the work explores the idea that “every sound is the starting point for constructing space and initiating time.”

Presented 44 years after the premiere of Prometeo in Venice, this performance continues the dialogue around Nono’s work, building on the momentum of last year’s production.
