Musiktheatertage Wien 2025

(AT)

From September 17 to 27, 2025, MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN will present a diverse programme featuring nine productions, including seven world premieres and two Austrian premieres. The productions combine music, performance and various artistic forms of expression and explore themes such as identity, perception and the boundaries between reality and fiction.

Some works shift familiar perspectives: VENUS IM PELZ deals musically and performatively with power structures, desire and social role models. PULVER creates an acoustic landscape of decay in which sounds dissolve and reassemble. In his piece NINGEN, composer Thomas Desi explores multiple identities through voice, language and music. DICHTES HOLZ uses the special acoustics of the memorial forest in Seestadt Wien to make sound tangible as a carrier of memory. THE RISE translates sign language into sound and questions the perception of music beyond the audible. LET ME PLAY THE LION TOO explores the construction and dissolution of identity in a music theatre performance that plays with staging, perception and the boundaries between reality and role.

With its venues, MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN 2025 will span a network across the city. In addition to established venues such as the Odeon Theater, MuTh and WUK, experimental spaces will also be used. The festival also offers a supporting programme that encourages networking and exchange between artists and audiences.

The Musiktheatertage Wien 2025 are supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
