w e i t ! neue musik weingarten 2025
(DE)
The festival w e i t ! neue musik weingarten will be dedicated to the music of composer Enno Poppe in 2025. The showcase, which will be attended by the composer, will be presented by contemporary music performers in various formations – from solo works to ensemble music and large ensemble works – and explained and contextualised in lectures and discussions.
Born in 1969, Enno Poppe is one of the leading international composers of new music. His compositions are characterised by a high degree of reflection on music history and a convincing sense of form. Together with the technical virtuosity that characterises Poppe’s composing, this results in extremely multi-layered music that places special demands on the listener. In addition to the presentation of his works, the aesthetic and existential foundations of his composing become clear and productive for understanding the present.
One of Poppe’s central works, which will be presented at the three-day festival in Weingarten, is the ‘video installation with music’ Interzone, which addresses the instability of contemporary existence, in which the individual is no longer bound to stable identities but is subject to constant change in terms of their social position, nationality, appearance and even gender.
The festival w e i t ! neue musik weingarten 2025 is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
