Ensemble Prizes ’26 to NO HAY BANDA and Ensemble for New Music Tallinn

14.10.2025

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is awarding the Ensemble Prizes ’26 to NO HAY BANDA from Canada and the Ensemble for New Music Tallinn from Estonia. The Prize is endowed with €75,000 each and is presented each year to two outstanding young ensembles.

From a large number of excellent applications from 13 countries, these two ensembles were chosen by the board of trustees:
NO HAY BANDA is dedicated to avant-garde music, from its post-war roots to the present day, as well as DIY culture and improvisation, drawing on influences from various popular music genres. The ensemble’s programs are characterized by an inexhaustible curiosity for musical discoveries and sonic experiments.

The Ensemble for New Music Tallinn embodies an experimental spirit, delving into music history and continuously seeking new sonic dimensions. The ensemble particularly specializes in alternative intonation and microtonal music.

The Prizes will be presented alongside the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize and the three Composer Prizes on May 23, 2026, in Munich.
