räsonanz – the Donor Concerts

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation has been supporting international musical life for 50 years, supporting composers, performers, ensembles, projects, publications and contemporary music events in a unique way. With the räsonanz – Donor Concerts, launched in 2016 together with the LUCERNE FESTIVAL and musica viva of the Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation enables extraordinary guest performances of contemporary music by international symphony orchestras.

In this way, it fulfills its commitment to new music, encourages the major orchestras to include contemporary works in their repertoire and also enables works that are difficult to realise to be performed again. räsonanz not only increases the implicitness with which new music establishes itself in the concert hall, but also opens the ears of musicians and audiences to the unfamiliar and the perception of the new in music.

Societal relevance and artistic ambition, daring shifts in perspective, and the beautiful unknown – all of this resonates when contemporary music defines, explores, and transcends its artistic boundaries.

räsonanz challenges, räsonanz demands, and räsonanz encourages: a willingness to embrace the unfamiliar and newly perceive contemporary music.
