Tacet(i) Ensemble

The ensemble regularly commissions new compositions, engaging composers and artists both locally and internationally. Each year, the ensemble develops over 50 new pieces and premieres them in Thailand, Asia, Europe and the United States.

Since 2017, Tacet(i) has been partnered the Thailand Music and Art Organization (TMAO) to conceptualise new collaborations between music and art. Together, they have curated several projects and events, such as educational workshops, and promoted their work worldwide. Since 2019, Tacet(i) has been the ensemble in residence at the IntAct Festival (Thailand) at the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre, which has become a center for new music in Southeast Asia.

The ensemble has been invited to renowned festivals such as the IntAct Festival (Thailand), the Thailand New Music and Arts Festival (TNMAS), the China-ASEAN New Music Festival (China), the Tesselat Collective Collaboration Project (Japan), the Cornell Council for the Arts (CCA, New York), the Crossover Contemporary Music (Netherlands), the Diffused Portrait (United Kingdom), the Spectrum New York (USA) and the Thailand-European Composers (Netherlands).

"If I were to reimagine Tacet(i), I think of a rubber: physically stretchy, sturdy, tensile, and bouncy; musically flexible, professional, open-minded, and full of vibrant energy with smiles. This ensemble creates through the exploration of possibility and impossibility, proven by the over 400 works we've performed, driven by creativity and research, heralding a new dawn for the genre in Southeast Asia and beyond. Over the past decade, we have traveled the world, sharing a vast collection of music, forging new friendships with exceptional collaborators, and embracing fresh ideas from our community and society. When asked what Tacet(i) means to me, I would say they are more than just a new music ensemble—they are a living, breathing entity, as resilient as rubber, eager to contribute phenomenal experiences, something meaningful and fun, to our world."

Tacet(i) is a comet on fire – transformative and blessed with artistic brilliance and honesty, powered by curiosity and adaptability.
Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri (composer)

“Over the past ten years, the Taceti Ensemble has transformed into something far more powerful than a group of new-generation musicians. It has become an epicenter of creativity, inspiration, and innovation—a vibrant community driven by the passion and curiosity of every member. Just like a Petri dish, Tacet(i) is an environment where even the smallest spark of an idea is nurtured until it grows and evolves into a powerful force, spreading its influence and inspiring change far beyond its origins. It is a space where artists from all disciplines come together to explore and unlock new possibilities in sound-making, continuously pushing the boundaries of what art can achieve. We are profoundly honored by the recognition and trust bestowed upon us by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The Ensemble Prize will not only enable us to continue forging new musical pathways throughout Southeast Asia and beyond but also empower us to explore new artistic horizons, cultivate meaningful collaborations and friendships, and inspire the artists of the future.”

Noppakorn Auesirinucroch (ensemble director and guitar)
