Concert Season 2025/26

The Collegium Novum Zurich (CNZ) is breaking new ground in many ways in its 2025/26 season, exploring different forms of perception and new spaces. Since its founding in 1993, direct exchange with composers has been one of the most important components of the CNZ’s artistic work. The concert season 2025/26 season will include the premieres of numerous works commissioned by the ensemble. In a new series entitled … im Gespräch, the ensemble invites composers to engage in dialogue with musicians and audiences. Works by Japanese composer Chikako Morishita and British composer Naomi Pinnock will be discussed and premiered as part of this series.

The CNZ will perform ensemble concerts in its new permanent venue, a former radio studio. The hall will be reopened with a concert evening featuring works by Clara Iannotta, Gérard Zinsstag, Niccolò Castiglioni and Emilio Pomárico. To mark his 100th birthday, the ensemble will dedicate an extensive portrait concert to György Kurtág.

Finally, the CNZ’s successful DIY project enters its fourth round, allowing amateur musicians to participate in the creation of a composition, this time a new work by Asia Ahmetjanova. Under the musical direction of Greek conductor Zoi Tsokanou, the CNZ will focus on various forms of combining video art and contemporary music in April. A new work for video and ensemble has been commissioned from Jannik Giger, and a work by Liza Lim will be combined with a new video work by a visual artist.
