Concerts by Trio Catch
Hamburg (DE)
Trio Catch performs as ‘Ensemble of the Season’ at the Gare du Nord in Basel. With these concerts, the trio aims to further sharpen its artistic profile and bring the multifaceted nature of contemporary chamber music to life. Three concerts will showcase the entire spectrum of new music: from established greats such as Helmut Lachenmann to up-and-coming young talents such as Eneko Lacalle Berasategi, from the finest sound textures to energetic soundscapes.
The musicians are not only to be heard in the ‘classical’ trio – the line-up is expanded with voice and electronics, opening up new sonic spaces. The first concert, Bergsteigerglück, is dedicated to Helmut Lachenmann on the occasion of his 90th birthday and takes up his philosophy of listening and experiencing. Works by Daniela Terranova and Beat Furrer will also be presented. In the second concert, una palabra, singer Nora Bertogg joins Trio Catch to explore language in all its diversity: as a medium of communication, as sound, as poetry and as a performative element, with works by Eneko Lacalle Berasategi, Irene Galindo Quero, Michael Pelzel, Georges Aperghis and a world premiere by Jannik Giger.
EAST EAST is the title of the third concert, a portrait of the young, exciting music scene in Eastern Europe, with very different approaches and sources of inspiration, ranging from pop cultural influences to poetic soundscapes and political statements. The programme includes works by Márton Illés, Mirela Ivičević, Milica Djordjević, Sara Glojnarić and a world premiere by Svetlana Maraš.
The Trio Catch concerts at the Gare du Nord are supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
