Festival FILEC

The Festival Internacional de Libre Expresión de Cuernavaca (FILEC) will celebrate its fourth edition in 2026, supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. Conceived as a platform for experimentation and dialogue, FILEC has established itself as a unique event in Mexico dedicated to contemporary and experimental music, free improvisation, sound art, and related performative practices.

The festival’s mission is to build bridges between artists from different cultural and aesthetic backgrounds and to promote collaborations that transcend national and stylistic boundaries. Through concerts, interdisciplinary performances, and workshops, the festival creates an environment in which musicians and audiences can engage in critical discussion and creative exchange.

The 2026 edition will present 30 artists from Mexico and abroad. The program includes solo and ensemble concerts, performances, and collaborative projects developed during the festival. Events will take place in the historic center of Cuernavaca at venues such as the Museo La Casona Spencer, the Teatro Ocampo, and the Centro Cultural Jardín Borda. Complementary workshops and artist talks offer insights into experimental and improvised practices and open up direct channels of learning and dialogue within the community.
