Pnima ... Ins Innere - Chaya Czernowin

Staatstheater Darmstadt (DE)

Since the launch of the Intermezzo project in the 2022/23 season, which has been received with equal enthusiasm and interest by audiences and musicians alike, small world premieres have found their way into the major symphony concerts of the Kammerakademie Potsdam. In the 2023/24 season, the theme of “Nature (Sounds)” will be the focus of the programs. How does nature sounds, its events and influences? How can music become a transmitter of natural sounds without being purely onomatopoeic? Was nature heard differently in the past than it is today? Does the spirit of the urban possibly take up too much space in our listening? The four composition commissions of the season, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, go to composers who repeatedly make nature (sounds) the subject of their music, who link music and nature, also in order to consolidate cultural identities – Britta Byström, Naomi Pinnock, Clara Iannotta and Toshio Hosokawa.
