NAMES
"Wonderful sonority, precision, expressiveness, delicacy, power of sound, maximum attention to the score and what goes beyond it, sounds that granulate in space and become particles of light.... This is what happened at the premiere of my piece High over the distant horizon.... Thank you, NAMES Ensemble!"
Javier Torres Maldonado, Composer

More InformationTherefore, they collaborate with various artists from a wide range of disciplines (performance, dance, visual arts, literature…). A special focus lies on the integration of electronics into the ensemble-sound.
As one of Austria’s emerging ensembles, NAMES can look back at a rich activity, projects and concerts at national and international venues and festivals (e.g. Aspekte, Dialoge Festival, Mixtur Barcelona, Druskomanija Lithuania, Crossroads Festival, Daegu Contemporary, Primavera Verona, Schönberg Center Vienna, Adevantgarde Munich).
When we founded NAMES, we were all still in the middle of our studies. By working together, we have developed not only musically but also as people and artistically. It's nice to see that all the work behind the scenes – planning, writing emails, submitting applications – leads to such successes!
The ensemble understands itself as a collective, which is democratically working on all artistic and managing decisions together. A particularly close collaboration links NAMES with the Studio for Electronic Music of the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. By combining a desire for chamber music and sound craftsmanship, NAMES sees itself as an experimental laboratory for lovers of new ideas and sounds.
What a special ensemble! They are obviously used to working with a high degree of artistic responsibility, their spirit, their initiative, their interest in all aspects of the production process, their identification.
And they play wonderfully.

„It is great to see how each individual and we as an ensemble have developed over the last 8 years. The Ensemble Förderpreis encourages us in our efforts to unite diverse artistic disciplines in one ensemble and to deal with transdisciplinary concepts and to deal with transdisciplinary concepts. We are very happy to have the opportunity to continue with this and to take on new challenges again and again!“

Working with NAMES has been a very inspiring experience – we share the joy of exploring specific sounds and textures, and the dedication to delve into the details of each phrase of the music. The performers of NAMES have all brought their personal musicality to the piece and created a very special version of Structures of Molten Light!
