15 Commissions for the 15th Anniversary

In 2027, Ensemble New Babylon will celebrate its 15th anniversary. To mark this occasion, 15 commissioned compositions will be created. The ensemble consists of 15 members with very different artistic personalities. Each artist in the ensemble has their own musical background, which influences the collective result. For the 15th anniversary of Ensemble New Babylon, each member was able to choose a composition for their instrument.

The 15 commissions, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, go to composers from 12 different countries: Irini Amargianaki, Annesley Black, Mattia Bonafini, Luis Codera Puzo, Michele Foresi, Vinicius Giusti, Jamilia Jazylbekova, Genoel von Lilienstern, Chanhee Lim, Christoph Ogiermann, Catalina Rueda, Elena Rykova, Marina Schlaginweit, Niklas Seidl, and Elnaz Seyedi. The result will be both personal conceptual pieces and classically notated works, with and without electronics. The new works will premiere in Bremen in 2027 in four different concerts in February, May, September, and November.
