35th Milano Musica Festival

Milano Musica (IT)

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation supports the 35th Milano Musica Festival, titled Lontananze creative (Creative Distances). Using Morton Feldman and György Kurtág—both born in 1926 and connected to the writings of Samuel Beckett—as points of reference, the festival focuses on how later generations have expanded and redefined modes of listening. Creative distance is addressed through multiple lenses: engagement with other cultures and technologies, the juxtaposition of repertoires and composers, and research into microtonality and sonic potential.

The festival comprises six world premieres and eight Italian premieres, including nine commissions and co-commissions with Ircam-Centre Pompidou, Staatskapelle Dresden, Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, Filippo Gorini, Trio Abstrakt, and Schallfeld Ensemble. Concerts at Teatro alla Scala are recorded and broadcast by Rai Radio3.
