AGAINST ALL ODDS!

To mark its 40th anniversary in 2026, the Oslo Sinfonietta presents AGAINST ALL ODDS!, a full-day mini-festival at the Henie Onstad Art Center. Bringing together concerts, premieres, and discussions, the event reflects four decades of engagement with contemporary music and highlights the ensemble’s longstanding commitment to artistic collaboration and innovation.

The program features new works by Mariam Gviniashvili, Jonas Skaarud, and Asbjørn Schaathun, alongside pieces drawn from the ensemble’s history. Connecting past and present artistic practices, the festival also includes collaborations with students from the Norwegian Academy of Music, chamber music interventions by younger composers, and performances of avant-garde classics by figures such as John Cage and Iannis Xenakis.

With this project, the Oslo Sinfonietta underlines the importance of ensemble culture as a space for experimentation, dialogue, and resistance.
