Borealis 2025

Borealis – a festival for experimental music in Bergen, Norway – is nationally and internationally recognised for presenting new works in the fields of new composition, improvisation with a focus on living composers, interdisciplinary practice and new performance methods. The festival focuses on both music and its contexts. Its aim is to explore new ways of creating experimental music, to think inside and outside the concert hall, and to give composers from different backgrounds and genders space and resources.

Over five days, Borealis 2025 will present 20 events, including international and Norwegian premieres, installations, family events, a residency and talks programme, commissioned texts and an online radio platform. At the core of the 2025 festival is a quartet of composed works that explore different perspectives on staged sound and music through transcultural and collaborative approaches.
