Commission to Jüri Reinvere

Serge Rachmaninoff Foundation, Hergiswil (CH)

Jüri Reinvere is composing a new work for the Serge Rachmaninoff Foundation, supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The Estonian composer’s musical language and aesthetics, his balancing act and transformation from modernism to romanticism, his musical and ideological origins, his commitment also in his essays, and his unbroken openness to Russian music despite spending his youth in the Estonian SSR under pressure to Russify, initiate and expand central artistic questions through his music.

Reinvere’s polystylistic art does not follow any dogmas of material or technique and is often devoted to existential themes in history, nature, politics and the poetics of human perception. His lyricism and drama are based on precise psychological observation and are often accompanied by subtle theological allusions. The world premiere of the work will take place on September 6, 2026 at Villa Senar in Weggis on Lake Lucerne.
