Commission to Lisa Streich

Lisa Streich is composing a new work for the competition at the Stuttgart International Classic Guitar Festival (SICG). The composition will serve as the required piece for the international guitar competition held as part of the festival and will then be premiered by the first-prize winner of the competition at the Noche de la Guitarra, the festival’s highlight.

The SICG festival has been held annually at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts since 2011 under the artistic direction of Prof. Johannes Monno. Over the past 15 years, numerous leading figures from the international guitar scene have been guests at this event. For example, Judicaël Perroy, Lorenzo Micheli, Olaf Van Gonnissen, the Maccari-Pugliese Duo, lutenist Paul O’Dette, the Aleph Guitar Quartet, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and many others have performed and taught there. A central part of the festival is the Noche de la Guitarra—a celebration of the guitar on Saturday evening in the University’s main concert hall, organized primarily by students from the guitar department as well as guest artists, and which has been the highlight of the regional guitar scene for many years.
