Commission to Lucas Fagin

Fundación ArtHaus presents Historias Desaforadas (Unchained Stories), a project combining music, theater, literature, and visual art. It features three “stories”: two world premieres by Lucas Fagin and Marco Suárez-Cifuentes alongside the Argentinian premiere of Unsuk Chin’s Cosmigimmicks.

Chin’s Cosmigimmicks explores musical pantomime through virtuosic, mechanical rhythms. The piece instills archetypes and life stories into incisive, theatrical gestures that unfold outside linear time. Lucas Fagin’s commissioned work integrates an art film with a score for nine instruments. During the performance, the ensemble becomes a hyper-electric force, energized by Mini Moog synthesizers, electric guitars, and “junk” sounds. Marco Suárez-Cifuentes’s Vulgaris Fictio may be conceived as a “musical delirium,” as the piece draws inspiration from medieval painters and writers, merging seemingly disparate ideas and techniques. The three works will be performed by Ensemble Arthaus under the direction of Pablo Druker.

The Ernst von Siemens Foundation supports the commission to Lucas Fagin and the artistic residency of Marco Suárez-Cifuentes.
