Julien Poulain
Commission to Ondřej Adámek
Orchestre Les Forces Majeures, Villefavard (FR)
The orchestra Les Forces Majeures has commissioned its first original work by Czech composer Ondřej Adámek. Titled Les Forces Cycliques, the 15-minute composition is built around the bicycle. Structured in three parts—Intro, Main Work, and Outro—the piece is written for both concert halls and outdoor performances, including performances while riding bicycles. It will be performed throughout the orchestra’s “Accordez vos vélos !” tour during the 2025–2027 seasons. Following a residency with the composer in March 2026, the world premiere will take place at the Théâtre de la Faïencerie on May 31, 2026.
The premiere will mark the start of a week-long bicycle tour across the Oise region, with performances in schools, community centers, senior homes, conservatories, public squares, and theaters, as well as musical bike parades. The tour will include fifteen evening concerts. Ondřej Adámek will attend the premiere and first performances and will also participate as a vocal performer.
The commission to Ondřej Adámek is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
