Commissions to Beat Furrer & Ying Wang

Under the motto hinausgehen (go out), the vocal ensemble CANTANDO ADMONT is planning a series of concerts to mark its 10th anniversary. The concerts represent a culmination of the ensemble’s artistic and social visions and aspirations over the past 10 years, while also exploring new territory.

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting commissions for compositions by Ying Wang and Beat Furrer.

Chinese-German composer Ying Wang is creating a new work for four voices and organ. The composition, with microtonal beats and musicians distributed throughout the venue, will be performed as part of the concert UNERHÖRT SCHÖN (UNHEARD BEAUTY).

Beat Furrer is composing a new work for voice and baritone saxophone for the concert RITUAL. The composition brings gesture back into music and works with immediate, physical sounds.

Comprising outstanding musicians under the artistic direction of Cordula Bürgi, CANTANDO ADMONT is considered one of the most internationally renowned ensembles for early and contemporary music.
