Commissions to Brendan Champeaux, Bernhard Gander, Anna Korsun, Anda Kryeziu & Andrzej Kwieciński

For the year 2025, the Vienna-based ensemble airborne extended is awarding five commissions that will be premiered at festivals and in a dedicated concert series at Reaktor Wien. The five commissions to Brendan Champeaux, Bernhard Gander, Anna Korsun, Anda Kryeziu and Andrzej Kwieciński are made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.

For an ensemble with such a unique line-up (flutes, recorders and Paetzold, harp, harpsichord, augmented by objects, electronics, media and performance), the production of new works is above all a fruitful creative exchange and musical research, both between composers of different generations and the interpreters of the group itself. The ensemble’s international success and recognition is founded on its focus on its own instruments and the technical, musical and interpretative qualities they offer. Since 2013, airborne extended has premiered more than 90 works written especially for the quartet, working with some of the most interesting composers of our time.
