Commissions to Clemens Gadenstätter, Georgia Koumará, Eva Reiter & Alexander Schubert

As part of the PHACE ensemble’s THE UNSTABLE REAL series, Clemens Gadenstätter, Georgia Koumará, Eva Reiter, and Alexander Schubert are composing new works on this theme. The four commissions are supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.

Reality is malleable until it is no longer so—systems and orders teeter between fragile equilibria. Crises, social inequalities, climate change, and migration mark new fault lines, while the digital flood of information increasingly calls into question whether we can still trust our own eyes and ears. THE UNSTABLE REAL is an invitation to experience this unstable present through the senses, to perceive its fractures, to uncover its mechanisms, and to rethink it aesthetically, emotionally, socially, and politically.
