Commissions to Dimitri Kourliandski & Andrea Mattevi
Sonus Novus, Munich (DE)
Sonus Novus 2026 is the second edition of a concert series in Munich, taking place in December 2026. The goal of the project is to strengthen the city’s independent arts scene in the long term and to open up new aesthetic perspectives.
The focus is on composers whose works are rarely featured in Munich’s regular concert programs. Both artists living in Munich and internationally renowned guests will be invited, fostering a vibrant exchange and broadening the audience’s aesthetic horizons.
The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is funding commissions to Dimitri Kourliandski and Andrea Mattevi, which will receive their world premieres on December 6 at schwere reiter. The Trio Æther will also perform works by Gérard Pesson and Jinwook Jung.
Another concert is scheduled for December 1 as part of the concert series at Einstein Kultur: Munich-based violist Geneviève Strosser will perform compositions by Isabel Mundry, Alberto Posadas, Georges Aperghis, and Helmut Lachenmann.
