Made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, Vertixe Sonora presents the exhausted earth—a project featuring newly commissioned works for ensemble by Gabriel Bolaños, Januibe Tejera de Miranda, Marta Domingues, and Fernanda Navarro.

the exhausted earth draws attention to the global environmental crisis—a catastrophe that is displacing communities and rendering entire regions uninhabitable. In a world shaped by hyper-aggressive energy consumption and the dematerialization brought on by artificial intelligence and technology, marginalized cultures are increasingly overlooked.

In collaboration with Plurisons from Brazil, Vertixe Sonora seeks to establish a cross-cultural dialogue—one that acknowledges the historical scars of slavery, genocide, and land theft. the exhausted earth provides these four composers the opportunity to create and present their works across multiple performances. The project will additionally incorporate pedagogical sessions designed especially for students.
