Commissions to Jérôme Combier and Alberto Posadas
Multilatérale, Paris (FR)
Two commissioned works by composers Jérôme Combier and Alberto Posadas are being created for the Ensemble Multilatérale, funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
Strands, the new work by Jérôme Combier, is a visualised image of the ties that bind us together. The instruments are extended by strings that are tied to the strings of the harp, viola, cello and double bass and are made to vibrate by the players by plucking them between their index finger and thumb. The piano is a visual object in itself: large coloured threads stretch through the air without the top end being visible, representing the spatial expansion of the piano. The threads of memory, the threads of connections made visible, are played by the musicians and thus also made audible. The work will be premiered together with the new work by Spanish composer Alberto Posadas at the Festival d’automne in December 2024.
