Commissions to Jongsung Oh & Adi Snir
Freundeskreis Herrenhaus Edenkoben (DE)
The Herrenhaus Edenkoben (Edenkoben Manor) is one of the few institutions in rural areas that is run without any state support and promote contemporary visual arts and literature, with a particular focus on composition. Since 1997, five-month scholarships have been awarded to artists in the three disciplines, with the free months being used for musical or literary workshops. Since 1997, more than 50 composers selected by Peter Eötvös and Wolfgang Rihm have worked at the Herrenhaus Edenkoben, including subsequent winners of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation’s Composer Prize.
Before their deaths, Péter Eötvös and Wolfgang Rihm proposed supporting the two young composers Adi Snir and Jongsung Oh. Adi Snir and Jongsung Oh are now working on compositions that will be realised in late summer 2025 and performed by the Ensemble of the International Ensemble Modern Academy in cooperation with SWR. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is making the two commissions possible and supporting the Herrenhaus Edenkoben Academy.
