Commissions to Minzuo Lu and Oscar Strasnoy

The Herrenhaus Edenkoben is one of the few institutions run without any state support in rural areas in which work on and realisation of compositions is promoted alongside contemporary visual arts and literature. Since 1997, five-month scholarships have been awarded to artists in each of the three disciplines, and the free months are used for musical or literary workshops.

In the coming year, the Herrenhaus Edenkoben will award a composition commission to the scholarship holder Minzuo Lu. The Chinese composer will create a work for large ensemble, which will be premiered in collaboration with teachers and the ensemble of the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt. Oscar Strasnoy has also been commissioned by the Herrenhaus Edenkoben to compose a work for violin and electronics, which will be performed by the renowned violinist Isabelle Faust. The commissions to Minzuo Lu and Oscar Strasnoy are made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
