Commissions to Valéria Bonafé, María Laura Disandro, Francisco C. Goldschmidt & Christian Vásquez Miranda
Kommas Ensemble, Cologne (DE)
The Kommas Ensemble is celebrating its tenth anniversary with the concert series KOMMAS#X. Four compositions have been commissioned from South American composers: Valéria Bonafé, María Laura Disandro, Francisco C. Goldschmidt and Christian Vásquez Miranda, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
Since the ensemble was founded in 2015, it has been particularly important to them to provide a platform for the latest developments in Latin American new music in Germany.
Christian Vásquez Miranda (Chile) is one of the most important representatives of the younger generation of composers in Chile and is also a co-founder of the Kommas Ensemble. A commission for a work for large ensemble is planned. The new work by Argentine composer Lala Disandro is for bass clarinet solo and live electronics.
The world premiere of a new work by the ensemble’s composer and artistic director, Francisco C. Goldschmidt (Chile), written for 15 musicians, will take place in autumn 2026. In addition, a new piece for seven musicians by Valéria Bonafé (1984, Brazil)—a leading a voice in contemporary Brazilian music—will also receive its premiere.
