Concert by the Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain

The Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain presents a program of contemporary works conducted by Zoi Tsokanou and produced by Pôle Nord, featuring music by Jannik Giger, Ben Nobuto, Christian Mason, and Rebecca Saunders.

The concert opens with Œil by Swiss composer Jannik Giger, a string quartet that reconsiders elements of the classical tradition through shifts in listening and perception. Ben Nobuto’s Joy Replica follows, a tightly structured work built on repetition and gradual transformation.

Also on the program are Christian Mason’s Noctilucence (2009) and Rebecca Saunders’ Into the Blue (1996), both of which focus on texture, timbre, and evolving sonic environments.

Based in Switzerland, the Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain focuses on contemporary repertoire and regularly collaborates with artists across disciplines, including dance, theatre, literature, visual arts, and film.
