Concert Series HW26C_
hand werk, Cologne (DE)
With five concerts, the chamber music ensemble hand werk presents a diverse range of contemporary music in their concert series HW26C_. The name of the concert series HW26C_ is an abbreviation standing for Ensemble hand werk (HW), the year (2026), the venue Cologne (C) and the respective edition (#1, #2 and so on). Since 2022, the series has been characterised by thematic sub-series focusing on different artistic aspects. The format #1 GUTE MUSIK focuses on revivals of works from the contemporary repertoire that have been performed little or not at all. Two editions will take place in 2026. The young composer Tamon Yashima is revising his work Geklirre und Geschepper for the ensemble. In addition, Michael Reudenbach has been commissioned to write a new ensemble piece. In #2 FREI & FREI, invited artists from the field of improvised music will meet the chamber music ensemble. The two groups will juxtapose and contrast their music, allowing the distinctive characteristics of each genre to remain intact. In 2026, the French duo Garcia/Émaille, with Nina Garcia (electric guitar) and Camille Émaille (percussion), will be the guest performers. Each year, a concert evening also focuses on a specific aspect of contemporary music. In 2026, each hand werk member will compose a contribution to the evening (#3 GROUPE DES SICKS). The fourth sub-series is #4 GRAND EVENING, a carte blanche for internationally renowned and active personalities. For 2026, Chaya Czernowin is creating a synaesthetic mini-opera for hand werk.
The concert series HW26C_ is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
