Concert series Interactions

Association of Spółdzielnia Muzyczna, Krakau (PL)

In Poland, contemporary music is perceived by society as difficult, inaccessible and elitist. Many people believe that they do not have the skills to listen to it. This is due to the fact that contemporary music is not part of everyday life. There is no contemporary music in school curricula, in philharmonic repertoires or in cultural centers. In contrast to classical music, popular music or jazz, contemporary music mainly takes place at festivals, i.e. at events held within a short period of time. However, there are no activities spread throughout the year that would allow people to gradually familiarize themselves with new music.

The Spółdzielnia Muzyczna ensemble has come up with the Interactions concert series, which will be presented in six events in 2024. By freely exploring the territories of 20th century music, the musicians free themselves from traditional musical training, immerse themselves in electronic and ambient music, engage with textual and visual content and search for new identities in the chaotic present. Spółdzielnia Muzyczna invites the audience to encounter the music of many countries and times. Through discussions accompanying the concerts, the ensemble organizes a lively and lively exchange of opinions with people from the fields of theater, popular music and literature.

The Interactions concert series is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
