Concert Series: Taxi Salon

Kunstzentrat, Munich (DE)

The Taxi Salon is a concert series focusing on contemporary experimental music. The aim of the concerts is to bring together contemporary approaches that further develop new music in a prototypical and experimental manner. In doing so, compositions and instrumentation are to be reimagined both artistically and technically. The invited artists work at the cutting edge and are active in current music and art discourse.

In these concerts, not only the sound production but also the instruments themselves and the scenographic presentation become part of an experiment. The artistic process is intended to benefit from a broad spectrum of international perspectives with hybrid cultural influences. This concert series places a particular emphasis on perspectives from Japan, as well as on perspectives from Sweden, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium, and the USA.

The 2025 program explored the significance of improvisation and noise in contemporary music. In 2026, however, the Taxi Salon series will focus more strongly on experiments within composition and the classical instrumental repertoire.

The Taxi Salon 2026 concert series is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
