EYEs - the Electroacoustic Youth Ensemble
Tacet(i) Ensemble, Bangkok (TH)
Tacet(i) Ensemble advances its mission of collaborative artistic practice and education through EYEs (Electroacoustic Youth Ensemble), a program that brings together young artists from diverse backgrounds to work alongside composers and performers in designing and building electroacoustic instruments and creating original performances. Open to participants regardless of prior instrumental experience, EYEs encourages experimentation, collaboration, and creative discovery through hands-on engagement with contemporary music-making.
As technology continues to play an important role in artistic practice, EYEs provides participants with opportunities to explore new approaches to sound, performance, and instrument design. The seven-week intensive program combines instrument building—from analog circuits to polyphonic synthesizers—with training in signal processing, sound synthesis, and digital platforms such as Pure Data. Participants develop practical and creative skills while exploring technology as a tool for performance, instrument-making, and artistic expression.
The program offers a learning environment that connects music, technology, and performance through workshops, collaborative projects, and mentorship from professional artists. By integrating technical and artistic processes, participants gain experience in developing ideas from concept to performance while working closely with peers from different backgrounds and disciplines.
The EYEs curriculum includes workshops in instrument design and construction, digital sound creation, and performance development. Through collaborative projects and mentorship from Piyawat Louilarpprasert, Siravith Kongbandalsuk, and Thanapat Ogaslert, participants build skills in electroacoustic music, performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The program generates a range of outcomes, including new works, performance documentation, learning resources, and networks connecting emerging artists interested in music and technology. These materials will be made available through an open-access online archive of lessons, workshops, and performances.
EYEs is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
