Louth Contemporary Music Society (IE)
Echoes, a festival held by the Louth Contemporary Music Society, is set to take place in Dundalk, Louth, in June 2025. This two-day celebration of contemporary music will feature a stunning lineup of performances, including the first-ever Irish performances of several groundbreaking compositions. A truly unique cultural experience in the heart of rural Ireland, the festival promises to showcase the innovative spirit of modern music.
The festival will open on Friday, June 13, in An Tain Theatre with a performance of Bernhard Lang’s The Cold Trip, featuring the Aleph Guitar Quartet and Daisy Press. On Saturday, June 14, the festival continues its richly diverse program. Daan Vandewalle will perform Lang’s Monadologie XXXVI Chopin 12 Etudes for the first time in Ireland at the historic Dundalk Gaol. Later, Aleph Guitar Quartet and Daisy Press will return to perform Martin Smolka’s contemplative Basho, along with a new composition. At the Spirit Store, the acclaimed UK ensemble Apartment House will perform their arrangement of Nico/John Cale’s The Marble Index. To close the festival, Chamber Choir Ireland will take the stage, performing works by Kevin Volans and a new piece by Sarah Davachi, ensuring a fitting and unforgettable conclusion to this extraordinary musical journey.
Echoes presents a rare opportunity to experience new and established works by renowned composers, including Sarah Davachi, Martin Smolka, Kevin Volans, Bernhard Lang, and an innovative reimagining of The Marble Index by Nico/John Cale.
Supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the festival highlights Louth’s growing reputation as a destination for exceptional and innovative contemporary music.
