Festival RESIS

Asociación Cultural AÏS, Galicia (ES)

Festival RESIS returns for its highly anticipated eighth edition, continuing its commitment to celebrating contemporary music. This year’s lineup features a dynamic blend of emerging talent and established figures, including Beat Furrer, who conducted the Spanish premiere of Akusmata in 2022, and will return to the festival this year.

A central highlight of this edition is a tribute to Helmut Lachenmann in celebration of his 90th birthday, alongside a tribute to the late Wolfgang Rihm, honouring his lasting influence through the performance of his works.

RESIS will showcase performances by internationally acclaimed artists such as Florentin Ginot, Florian Hoelscher, the Diotima Quartet, and the Gerard Quartet. The Arxis Ensemble, the festival’s resident group, will perform under the baton of conductor Daniel Huertas. Each concert will emphasize the festival’s unwavering dedication to advancing contemporary music and spotlighting the freshest voices emerging from Spain. This year commissions new works from three Galician composers—Jacobo Gaspar, Hugo Gómez-Chao and Rubén Panete

Additionally, RESIS will host a workshop for young composers under 35, led by composer José María Sánchez-Verdú. This invaluable opportunity will allow participants to present their works and collaborate with the Real Filharmonía de Galicia Orchestra.

Festival RESIS is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. With 12 concerts and 8 parallel activities, the festival continues to serve as a vibrant platform for contemporary music in Spain.
