For Wolfgang Rihm

A concert for Wolfgang Rihm, an insight into his composing workshop, an exploration of his pupils in the form of new works. Peter Tilling and the ensemble risonanze erranti were closely associated with Wolfgang Rihm; in 2012, the musicians performed at the Pinakothek der Moderne for his 60th birthday. In 2018, a portrait concert took place at the Movimentos Festwochen Wolfsburg and at the Radialsystem Berlin, where his Doppio concertino for 2 cellos was premiered. The CD production of IN FRAGE in February 2024 was the last joint work.

The concert will feature world premieres by Birke J. Bertelsmeier and Johannes Motschmann, both of whom studied with Rihm. The sequence of works Kolchis – In Frage – Blick auf Kolchis makes one of Rihm’s working principles audible, the overpainting and continuation of a compositional nucleus.
