Gibanja – An Experimental Sound Event
KONTEJNER, Zagreb (HR)
Gibanja (engl. motions) is an international festival for experimental sound in Zagreb, Croatia. It started in 2021 as a small but forward-looking and proactive festival of experimental music. The aim is to present contemporary music tendencies, host prominent and relevant musicians, composers, and sound artists from Croatia and abroad and to open space for young and emerging musicians and artists. Experimental musical expressions and contemporary compositions are at the heart of the program, with an additional focus on the creation and presentation of electronic music, the combination of music and new technologies. Gibanja strives to present avant-garde composer approaches, significant research in the field of sound art, acoustics and electroacoustics, and audiovisual creation. There will also be workshops, lectures, discussions, and artist talks. As part of the festival, composers will be invited to create new works. The Gibanja Festival is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
