ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week 2025

The International ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week is a summer academy founded by the ensemble Suono Giallo and composer Theocharis Papatrechas. At the academy, participants have the opportunity to collaborate with renowned artists on composition, electronic music, and performance. Supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, ilSUONO fosters an atmosphere where new music can thrive and evolve, both creatively and academically.

The 9th edition of ilSUONO will feature composer Mauro Lanza as its resident composer. 12 emerging composers are selected internationally for composition program. Throughout the week, some composers will work on mixed media compositions and acoustic works, while others create shorter works to be premiered at the opening concert. The participants benefit from individualized lessons with the resident and guest artists, as well as collaborative opportunities with the ensemble Suono Giallo.

ilSUONO additionally includes a workshop for emerging performers, in which they receive private lessons, collaborate with composer participants, and perform at public concerts.

The academy’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility is central to its mission, and all activities are open to the public. The educational aspect extends beyond the participants, as the academy encourages the local community to embrace contemporary music, making ilSUONO a truly inclusive and enriching experience for all.
