ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week 2026

Suono Giallo, Sansepolcro (IT)

The International ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week is a summer academy founded by the Italian ensemble Suono Giallo and composer Theocharis Papatrechas. The academy brings together participants working in composition, performance, and computer music. The 10th anniversary edition of ilSUONO will take place from June 29 to July 5, 2026, and will feature composers Carola Bauckholt and Caspar Johannes Walter as resident artists.

Each year, twelve emerging composers are selected through an international application process. During the academy, participants develop new works in collaboration with performers and faculty. Some composers focus on mixed-media and electroacoustic projects, while others write shorter acoustic works to be premiered at the opening concert. The program includes individual lessons with resident and guest artists, as well as rehearsal and workshop sessions with Suono Giallo. ilSUONO also offers a workshop for emerging performers. Participants receive individual instruction, work closely with composer fellows, and perform in the academy’s public concerts.

Supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, ilSUONO provides a focused setting for the development and presentation of new work, encouraging exchange between composers, performers, and researchers in contemporary music.
