International ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week
Città di Castello (IT)
ilSUONO is a new music initiative by the Italian ensemble Suono Giallo and the Greek composer Theocharis Papatrechas that gathers young composers and performers of new music and celebrates excellence in composition, performance and computer music. Founded in 2016 and held annually in the summer in Sansepolcro (Italy), ilSUONO aims to provide a unique forum for emerging composers and performers, in which participants work intimately with renowned artists from elite institutions, participate in academically and artistically challenging lectures and organized discussions on composition, electronic music, and performance.
The 7th edition of ilSUONO will take place in July 2023 and is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. Carmine Emanuele Cella and Sivan Eldar are the two composers in residence, and Ann Cleare will join them for two days as a guest composer. The teachers of the performance programme include the members of the resident ensemble Suono Giallo (flute, saxophone, double bass). ilSUONO also welcomes the guest ensemble WADI. For the composition programme, 16 young composers will be selected through an international call for applications.
Five concerts will be held as part of the programme, featuring pieces by participating and resident composers, guest composers and artistic director Theocharis Papatrechas.
