Klangspuren Future Lab 2026
Klangspuren Schwaz (AT)
Klangspuren Schwaz is a key driving force in the exploration of contemporary music. With the Klangspuren Future Lab Academy, founded in 2022, the festival aims to support young artists, inspire audiences with current forms of musical expression, and strengthen the connections between music, other art forms, and society
The Creators Lab is aimed at young musicians, composers, and artists in the fields of choreography and performance. The focus is on the targeted promotion of artistic excellence, interdisciplinary exchange, and the development of new project ideas. The lab’s main areas of focus are the exploration of space and sound, soundsculpting (working with sound material), and the connection between body, movement, and music.
In cooperation with the Tiroler Landeskonservatorium, konsTellation plus offers highly talented musicians a platform for professional engagement with contemporary music literature and modern performance techniques. In 2026, the focus will be on Liza Lim’s cross-genre work Atlas of the Sky—a ritual journey through community, protest, and transformation that involves students, composition classes from other Austrian music universities, and local amateurs.
The Rent a musician format, in cooperation with the John Cage Competition, brings winners of the contemporary music competition to Schwaz. For one week, they organize concerts in unusual venues and visit schools, clubs, or private homes. This makes music immediately accessible and fosters personal encounters between artists and the audience.
The Klangspuren Future Lab is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
