KLANGZEIT_#13: BRIDGES
Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Münster (DE)
From the Brooklyn Bridge to the Crimean Bridge to the Tormin Bridge in Münster—a bridge does more than simply connect two pieces of land; it serves as a metaphor for so much more: interpersonal and intercultural connections, transition and transformation, growth; it is a catalyst for change and a link between the past, present, and future. Bridges between hostile factions, opposing opinions, and belief systems certainly seem more necessary than ever. Who builds cultural bridges, who uses them—and who is left out?
The Klangzeit _#13 festival reflects on the conditions of dialogue, presents the possibilities, achievements, and limitations of musical “bridge-building” within a wide variety of musical forms of expression, and seeks to make these tangible and audible. This can be explored through various formats: from interdisciplinary music theater to interactive sound installations, from compositions featuring electronic music to improvisation, from children’s concerts to a breath of fresh air for the city.
KLANGZEIT_#13: BRIDGES is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
