Komponistenklasse Dresden 2026
Freunde und Förderer der Komponistenklasse Dresden (DE)
After collaborating with musicians from Leipzig and Strasbourg in 2024 and 2025, the Komponistenklasse Dresden is set to hold a new edition in 2026 with the Klangkollektiv Opus Eins from Dresden.
The Komponistenklasse Dresden is an independent program run by a support association. Here, young composers aged 8 to 19 come together. Under the guidance of experienced composers, they explore their own musical ideas or collaborate on joint composition projects. They receive training in aural skills and rhythm, learn about various instruments, composers, and their works, and embark on a journey of discovery through score reading and music appreciation. A key aim of the projects is to introduce these young musical innovators to other art forms, to encourage cross-genre work, and to foster artistic exchange with other youth projects.
In 2026, the focus will be on a solo voice combined with two wind and two string instruments. Under the guidance of composers Silke Fraikin, Johannes Korndörfer, Annette Schlünz, and Bernd Schumann, the 8- to 20-year-olds will compose for the ensemble of voice (soprano), oboe, horn, viola, and double bass. Participants will meet in two courses during the winter break (6 days) and the summer break (9 days), where they will work intensively on their new pieces. The children and young people’s compositions will be created in close collaboration with the performers. Members of the Klangkollektiv Opus Eins will lead workshops during the vacation courses. The works will be presented in concerts in Gröditz, Chemnitz, and Dresden.
