LAUTSTARK 2025
Klanggang, Schwaz (AT)
LAUTSTARK is a unique European project for children and young people aged 8 to 18 who already play an instrument. It offers them the opportunity to spend a week intensively exploring new music and, in particular, composing in a group. Specially prepared impulses are used to create their own compositions in various didactic formats: New works are developed in five small groups (composition groups), each with two teachers and 8-10 children of different ages, genders and instruments, seven instrumental groups (woodwind, brass, strings, keys, percussion, plucked instruments, singers) and in the joint large group.
In special sound labs, the children and young people try out new ways of playing and producing sound on their instruments (e.g. blowing into the violin, tapping, playing the piano or preparing instruments). The role of the teachers is particularly important here: they make music on an equal footing as part of the group, pick up on the children’s ideas and support them in developing a musical structure on their own. The young participants improvise, conduct and sing, write (graphic) scores and present their works in a final public concert.
LAUTSTARK 2025 is funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
