In December 2026, Klang Systematiek presents three performances of Mauricio Kagel’s Ludwig van, a work for film and performance that examines the construction and transmission of the musical canon. The performance combines live instruments and electronics with a visual installation by Stefan Winter using projections of Kagel’s original 1970 film. The film is treated as an integral part of the performance, interacting with the musicians within a shared spatial environment.

By revisiting Ludwig van today, Klang Systematiek gives renewed life to a major work of post-war repertoire at a moment when questions of authorship, canon, and historical memory are increasingly central to contemporary culture.
