Riot Ensemble's Debut at Manchester Classical
Manchester (UK)
With a lively and colourful programme, the Riot Ensemble makes its debut at Manchester Classical in the Bridgewater Hall, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The ensemble will present Shrimp Bit Babyface by Alex Paxton and Seafloor Dawn Chorus by Kristine Tjøgersen to a wide new audience. Manchester Classical is a festival celebrating Manchester’s rich musical heritage in classical and contemporary music. In addition to the Riot Ensemble, which received the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation’s first Ensemble Prize in 2020, the festival also features performances by Manchester’s major orchestras, the Hallé and the BBC Philharmonic.
Alex Paxton’s Shrimp Bit Babyface is a co-production of Riot, which premiered at Klangspuren Schwaz in 2022. This is the first time Alex Paxton’s music will be heard at Bridgewater Hall. With Kristine Tjøgersen’s Seafloor Dawn Chorus, Riot aims to showcase the creativity, vitality and significance of new music.
