Festival Musica, Strasbourg (FR)
Mini Musica is a festival for young audiences and families, offering special musical experiences for the youngest ears. The festival is aimed at different age groups, from three months to eight years. The programme includes workshops and concerts tailored to each age group, encouraging the sensory exploration, emotional engagement and creativity of the participating children.
Mini Musica takes place over two weekends in mid-September. Additional concerts are organised during the week to allow school groups to attend the performances. The festival places a strong emphasis on artistic education and therefore works with various schools and social organisations. Pedagogical support in form of workshops related to the performances take place in schools, while a mediation work ensure access for vulnerable populations. Mini Musica promotes fundamental cultural rights by giving children the opportunity to express themselves artistically, build self-confidence and develop a strong cultural identity.
In 2025, Mini Musica welcomes music ensembles from Québec: the percussion ensemble Sixtrum and the string quartet Bozzini. Alongside these classical instruments, the line-up includes invented instruments, the brasses of Spat’Sonore and sound objects from Cie Nou&Vous. The aim of Mini Musica is to foster children’s imagination through shared artistic experiences. Children can explore the sensory, emotional and social dimensions of music and art.
In addition, the creation of musical works for a young audience is to be promoted and supported. Mini Musica actively promotes the production and dissemination of compositions in the field of new music that are specifically designed for children. By combining art and educational values, the festival aims to inspire children while creating a vibrant cultural landscape. This commitment not only enriches children’s artistic experiences but also ensures sustainable growth in the field of music production for young audiences.
