Music Current 2025

Dublin (IE)

Music Current 2025 is a four-day festival of contemporary Irish and international music, featuring five evening concerts, three workshops/masterclasses and a panel discussion. The concerts will showcase the work of the Dublin Sound Lab Ensemble from Ireland, Malgorzata Walentynowicz from Poland, Pony Says Ensemble and Maximillian Marcoll from Germany, Sound Initiative from France and Time Cape from Ireland/UK.

The festival has several strands: public concerts featuring established and emerging international and Irish composers, soloists, artists and ensembles; public discussions on technology and music reception; and professional/public encounters through masterclasses, workshops, discussion panels and open rehearsals led by composers and ensembles.

The festival also includes an annual ‘call for composition proposals’, from which a work is selected for a commission and performed at the following year’s festival. The composer commissioned for 2024 is Lautaro Figueroa Balcarce from Argentina, whose selected work will be performed by Dublin Sound on 23 April 2025.

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the Music Current festival in 2025.
