New Music Forum 2026

The seventh edition of the Ljubljana New Music Forum, Composing Alterity, is curated by Japanese composer Misato Mochizuki and French composer Aurélien Dumont. The festival explores the idea of alterity through five concerts.

The five programs approach the theme from different perspectives: multiple forms of musical time, encounters between Japanese, Iranian, and Western traditions, the relationship between acoustic and electronic sound, the influence of pop music on contemporary composition, and new approaches to music of the past. The festival also includes 29 Slovenian premieres and three new commissions.
